Curtis is the daughter Carmencita Ojales, a Filipina originally from Bolinao Pangasinan, and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian attorney. Her birthplace was Yarrawonga in Victoria, Australia. Her father wed Ojales, a Filipina from Bolinao in the year 1982. Jasmine her younger sister also performs as an actress. Clare passed away from a heart disease in 2007, when she was barely four months old.
